The 22 ingredients sit in a proprietary blend. Federal rules let a blend show only its total weight, with ingredients listed from most to least by weight (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)). The 200 mg total averages about 9 mg per ingredient in each dropper.
Does Olivaro have caffeine?
Yes, some. Guarana and green tea both contain caffeine, but the label does not give the amount. Because the whole blend tops out at 400 mg a day, the caffeine cannot come near FDA's 400 mg daily guide for healthy adults (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?). Sensitive people may still notice it.
Does Olivaro contain sugar?
No sugar is listed. The drops are sweetened with stevia extract (Reb A) and xylitol, in a base of glycerin and water. Stevia Reb A is generally recognized as safe in foods (FDA, Aspartame and Other Sweeteners). The label also lists lemon extract, natural flavors and two preservatives.
Is Olivaro vegan or gluten-free?

Can I take Olivaro with metformin?
Ask your doctor first. No study has tested Olivaro with metformin. Several blend ingredients, including chromium, ginseng, gymnema and African mango, may add to the effect of diabetes medicines (NIH ODS, Chromium)(NCCIH, Asian Ginseng). Never change a diabetes medicine without talking to your doctor first.
Is Olivaro safe if I take insulin?
Only with your doctor's approval. Insulin and sulfonylureas can cause low blood sugar, and ingredients that add to them may raise that risk. Low blood sugar usually means a reading below 70 mg/dL, with shakiness, sweating, hunger or confusion (NIDDK, Low Blood Glucose). Check your meter more often if you start.
What are the side effects of Olivaro drops?
Nobody has studied side effects of Olivaro itself. Its ingredients are linked to sleep trouble (ginseng, caffeine), stomach upset and, with grapefruit, drug interactions. Stop and call your doctor if anything new appears. The side effects page covers each ingredient.
Does Olivaro interact with blood pressure or statin drugs?
It might. Grapefruit extract can change blood levels of many medicines (FDA, Grapefruit juice and drugs), and the licorice compound may be risky for people with high blood pressure (NCCIH, Licorice Root). Ask your pharmacist to check your list, since the label hides how much of each is in a dropper.
Can I take Olivaro with an antidepressant?
Ask your doctor first. The blend includes L-tryptophan, which should not be combined with MAO inhibitors or other serotonin-raising products without medical advice (Drugs.com, L-tryptophan). The amount per dropper is not printed, so your doctor cannot judge the dose from the label.
Can I take Olivaro while pregnant or nursing?

Does Olivaro work?
No one knows yet, because no study of Olivaro has been published. A few of its ingredients have mixed or modest research behind them, but at much larger doses than one dropper provides. The ADA finds no clear benefit from supplements without a deficiency (ADA, Vitamins & Supplements).
How long does Olivaro take to work?

Will Olivaro lower my A1C?
We cannot say it will. No trial has measured A1C with Olivaro. In a ginseng meta-analysis, fasting glucose dropped slightly but A1C did not change (Shishtar et al., PLoS One 2014). Your A1C should be checked by your doctor, who can also judge what caused any change.
Can Olivaro help with weight loss?
No study shows it causes weight loss. The sales page uses the phrase "weight management". African mango has small, low-quality studies at 300 mg a day (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss), far more than the whole Olivaro blend averages per ingredient.
What actually lowers type 2 diabetes risk?
Lifestyle change has the strongest proof. In the Diabetes Prevention Program, about 7% weight loss and 150 minutes of activity a week cut the risk of type 2 diabetes by 58% (NIDDK, Diabetes Prevention Program). Ask about the CDC lifestyle program if you have prediabetes (CDC, Prediabetes).
